Below is a map showing which states receive more in federal spending than the taxes they pay. Red and pink = more than they pay, green and light green = less or equal to what they pay.

Notice that some of the bastions of anti-tax sentiment are among the biggest recipients of federal spending. I guess government money is fine as long as it comes from someone else.
